Lighting & Controls Technician

BMI Supply is seeking a Lighting Technician for installation projects in a range of venues including professional theatres, university theatres, schools, houses of worship, casinos, and more. This important position requires knowledge of the technical theatre industry, equipment, and processes. This knowledge should include theatrical lighting, dimming, & controls experience. Other desirable skills & experiences include: ETCP certification; manufacturer-specific training; architectural lighting systems; theatrical rigging systems; computers and networks; lighting paperwork including plots, submittals, and CAD drawings. BMI Supply will provide additional manufacturer training as needed.

The primary job responsibility is installation site work, which includes equipment rack assembly, data cable terminations, lighting fixture hanging and cabling, initial system configuration, and end-user training. Additional job duties include preliminary site visits, basic shop/prep work, interfacing with engineers & construction managers, and overall customer satisfaction. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual interested in diverse venues and working with a strong team of dedicated professionals.

This position requires regular weekday travel to job locations throughout New York State and neighboring states. Travel and accommodations are covered by the company. The ideal candidate should be willing to be based in Central NY or Western NY.  Additional job requirements include comfort with working at heights, ability to lift 50 lbs. or more, and OSHA 10 certification (BMI will cover certification expense if not yet obtained).

This full-time position has various wage rates involved, depending on job function and project characteristics.  The range is from $20.00/hour to approximately $85.00/hour.  Annual earnings are typically in the $65,000.00 to $80,000.00 range, or more.
